Meet Angela Thomson
Angela M. Thomson, CFP®
President
Angela Thomson, CFP® is principal and founder of Coastal Financial Planning, Inc. She is
frequently quoted in many local and national publications including the Wall Street Journal,
Business 2.0, Investment News, Providence Journal, Providence Business News, Houston Chronicle,
Financial Planning Interactive and other publications covering personal finance topics. She
is recognized as a knowledgeable professional with a client centered focus. In January of 2005,
she was recognized by the Providence Journal’s Money & Business section as one of the
“Women to Watch in 2005”. In 2004, the firm was profiled by the Wall Street Journal
in a piece citing trends in fee-only financial planning.
She is a graduate of Bryant College. She completed her CFP® course work in conjunction
with Northeastern University and is a CFP® licensee. Additionally, she is a registered
investment advisor. She serves as an adjunct professor at Bryant University teaching the CFP®
Program.
She has published several articles including “Your Young Investor”,
“Retirement Savings and Investments for Women” and “Weaving Your Way Through
the IRA Maze” and is currently working on her first book.
Angela Thomson serves as Chairperson of the Financial Planning Association of Rhode Island.
Angela is actively involved in her community. She is President of the PTA. Additionally, she
is a volunteer Money Mentor for women, working in conjunction with the State of Massachusetts
Treasurer’s office, as well as with the Rhode Island Chapter of the Financial Planning
Association.
She sits on non-profit boards for the Catholic Foundation of Rhode Island and Friends of the
Hearthside, a historical preservation group.
